My Life at the Moment

On Wednesday, it's the first day of school. I'm definately not excited, who is? I mean, sure, I love learning and all but the school atmosphere isn't really what I'd prefer. Though I am excited to do the medical assisting course at JATC. It's nice to see school finally pay off for my future. I will be able to become an actual medical assistant the day I graduate. Though I don't want to be an MA for the rest of my life, it is a nice step towards my larger goals. Being a senior will be weird for me, just the fact that there is no more high school after this! When school starts, I will have updates on how that goes.
Yesterday, I got a letter from my missionary! I was so thrilled, I almost did a happy dance! When I saw the letter sitting there on my desk, I couldn't help but smile. Though Sean only went on 2 dates and hung out a few times, I felt a certain connection that made it hard to let him go. I wrote him back today, filling 2 pages full of hand-written expressions of how happy I was to hear from him, how I missed him, and how proud I am that he had chosen to go. Devoting 2 years of your life to do work for the church is not an easy thing to do, I imagine. He has told me that the lessons he is learning and the experiences he's already had have been amazing, for that I am glad. I hope he comes home safe, happy, and without a kentucky accent. It will have been 2 weeks on Wednesday.
Something else new, I have decided that I need a logo for business cards, web page, ect. I could use help on ideas. so please leave comments with ideas. (and I'd LOVE comments on my other posts as well!!!)

Originally, this was a picture of Taylor Swift, but I tweaked and modefied
the facial features. So now she looks reminiscient of Taylor, but not entirely like her.
I'm not a fan of her music, but Taylor Swift is gorgeous and I just had to draw her.

I chose the dark background for this one because the original sketch
of her made her look concerned, frightened, and maybe a hint of shame.
I was also in a dark room at the time, it's funny where inspiration can come from.

Nothing really in particular for this one. She just
looks like she's laying in the sun to me.

I was just drawing, testing out whether or not I could draw a smile with teeth
I discovered that she looked kind of awkward, as if she had tripped and ripped her
dress or something. I thought, "hey, why not have a pretty girl with
an awkward smile?" We all do stupid things, even the best of us can be clumsy,
but the best way to get through those embarassing times: Laugh it off.

I was doodling and decided "I want to draw a girl in a big hat"
so I did....

We all aren't who we seem to be, sometimes we don't even
know for ourselves who we truly are. When we come to
that realization, we are reborn, in a sense, into who we
were meant to become all along, a more loving,
beautiful human being.

First post that's not about art!!!

Lately life has been going amazingly. I've been out doing stuff with friends, which is rare for me... I've already gone to Lagoon 3 times this summer and am planning on going again next week, it's been nice to share some good times with my close friends.
I've also started dating. I know it's rather late to start, seeing as I will be 18 in the next month (September 24, mark your calendars!!!) The guy I've been seeing is really sweet but is leaving on his mission tomorrow, though I'm sad to see him leave so soon, I'm proud of him for choosing to go. I wish him good luck, I will miss him.
Also, with more good news, I finally got a small job! It's only $200 but I gladly accepted the task. I was asked to draw a front and back view of the female muscular system for a class at Utah State University. They are quite impressed with my work. I'm sure they will be even more suprised to find how old I am.
Okay, only one more thing. I was called to serve in the Special Needs Mutual for my area. It's like I've prepared for this calling all my life!! I grew up with special needs children and I am rather comfortable with them. They tend to be the sweetest people and I'm excited to be with the special needs youth!
Like I said, life has been going very well lately. I attribute it to a major attitude change I took earlier this year. I decided to try to befriend everyone I meet, face my fears, and be willing to try new things. I've been a lot happier than ever before and I never thought I could make such a change in my life. I don't think I could've done it without my supportive parents and my amazing Young Women's leaders, Tami and Kelly. They cheered me on in everything I did. I am so thankful to have such amazing people in my life. Thank you!!

{Draped in Red}

I was looking through one of my sister's teen magazines
and I came across an ad with a curvy, voluptuous woman draped
in red. I was amazed to see a woman who was not stick thin in a magazine
She was classically beautiful, not in such a way as to following a trend.
I decided to draw the model, to make the image more personal to me.
What we learn from this: Beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, colors,
and in different and unique ways.
